Ep. 39 Dyslexia, American Schools, & Literacy Curriculum from Former Superintendent Lens with Dr. Monica
Jan 31, 2023 Episode 39
Dr. Lauren

Reading curriculums changing in American schools is a controversial topic, and parents whose children are impacted by the public school system are the most furious. There are decades of research supporting people with dyslexia needing structured literacy, yet, schools still follow reading gurus who don't have research to support their programs.

In this episode, Dr. Monica McHale-Small, currently the Director of Education for the Learning Disabilities Association of America, former Superintendent, school psychologist, and mother of children with dyslexia, shares her experience with reading programs and how it affects the overall learning experience of students who are struggling to read and write.

She also discussed what the Learning Disabilities Association of America offers parents and students with dyslexia. Monica is also a Dyslexia Mom Boss and shares her D-cubed journey with us in this episode. You sure don't want to miss that out!
